HDB – Public Housing in Singapore

Even though only Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents are allowed purchase a public housing in Singapore, we still felt a need to inform foreigners what public housing in Singapore is like.

So we did this video : Singapore’s public housing is developed and managed by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) and majority of the public residential housing are typically sold on a 99-year lease-hold. Public housing in Singapore is generally not considered as a sign of poverty or lower standards of living. Even though more than 80% of Singapore’s population live in public housing, few are living below the poverty line.

Foreigners are allowed to rent a HDB flat and for more information on this, please visit: HDB Subletting Quota

For more information about buying and selling a HDB flat, please visit: http://www.hdb.gov.sg/
